This course provides an overview of the basic principles and practices of management. Introduction to Management is a foundational course designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, functions, and processes of management. The course covers a range of topics including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, as well as the roles and responsibilities of managers in different organizational settings.
Throughout the course, students will be introduced to the historical development of management theory, including the contributions of key thinkers such as Frederick Taylor, Henri Fayol, and Peter Drucker. They will also examine contemporary approaches to management, including the challenges of managing in a global and rapidly changing business environment.
The course emphasizes the importance of effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills for managers at all levels of an organization. Students will learn how to identify and analyze business problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make informed decisions based on data and evidence.
In addition, students will explore the fundamentals of organizational behavior, including individual and group dynamics, motivation, leadership, and ethics.
