First law of thermodynamics, Joules experiment, Applications of first law to flow and non flow processes and cycles. Steady flow energy equation and its application to different devices.
Course Objectives:
•To study the Joules Experiment for conversion of energy
•To understand the concepts of heat and work
•Compare Point and Path Function
• To study various definitions and corollaries of First law of Thermodynamics
•To apply first law to closed system or non flow process
•Importance and application of First law to Steady Flow Process
•To understand the continuity and bournoulis equation
•To get clear idea of solving numericals on First law to closed & steady flow process
Course Outcomes:
Learner will be able to
•Get idea about heat and work concepts.
•Can differentiate between point function and path function.
•Understand various statements of first law and corollaries.
•Know the details of various processes under closed system ( Non flow process)
•Importance of First law applied to Steady flow processes and their practical applications.
•Will be able to solve any type of numericals based on non flow and steady flow processes.
There are total five lectures of which 3 are theoretical and 2 are based on Numericals. This is apart of Unit-1 syllabus and covered in two hour lectures. These lectures will definitely help you a lot in your final exams and also beneficial for preparation of various competitive exams.
