Layering can be applied to not only this painting, but in any fun background or misty effect you want to try in other paintings. If you want to try something a little bit more challenging then this is perfect, we have technical skills in the drawing and the painting. This class is fun, thought provoking and you get to see in real time how I do it so follow along at home, pause the video when you need to and create a masterpiece!
Where To Start?
Make sure you've tapes your paper down so it doesn't warp and you can create a beautiful crisp boarder. Follow the videos, step-by-step and watch as I show you how to apply water, paint, and layers to slowly build up to this Venice scene. It may look messy and chaotic to start, but trust the process and it will all come together at the end, like most artworks! Be patient, curious and allow yourself to try new things.

Where to start: The class is broken down into easy stages that last between 2 & 10 minutes which means, if you’re busy you can just complete one stage at a time and come back to it later.
The class is split up into 8 classes, each giving you a new layer and interesting thing to focus on. You’ll learn so much along the way.

My method of teaching is always catered to the student's needs and abilities. For example, if a student is a beginner and they want to learn how to draw realistically, I would show them how to understand the principles before we try to draw straight away. To understand nature, we must understand how to see in order to translate that into our hands.
If a student is more advanced, we will look at what really inspires them and how we can push their abilities by looking at the finer details, whether that is the pressure of the pencil, the equipment quality, or the tiny nuances in the line direction that need tweaking. We should always keep pushing ourselves and learning from what we do so I fully encourage people to embrace their mistakes and enjoy the process over the finished result.
Topics I cover are value scale, shapes, portraits, figures, life drawing, still life, feet, hands, hair, fabric and much more.
