Andrew J. Smith
Professional Music Instructor & Performer
"I hope you decide to either begin or continue your musical journey today, and I would be honored to help you do that. Let's start making music!" - Andrew J. Smith
Andrew received his degree in Music Education from Bob Jones University - a regionally accredited institution, and upon graduating with honors, began touring with a Christian band. He has been teaching music for over nine years, and loves being able to share music with thousands of people across the globe through both teaching and performing.
Andrew's musical experiences began in the 7th grade when he taught himself how to play trumpet. In high school, he competed and placed in several state-wide trumpet, voice, and music theory competitions, and band and choir competitions were the highlight of his school year. Through all of this, the fretted instrument family (ukulele, guitar, dulcimer, etc.) quickly became his primary instruments.
Andrew believes that everyone can experience playing an instrument for themselves - that it is not reserved for a select few "talented" people. He believes the secret to getting better at music is not in simply receiving quality content, but in learning that content in a way that makes sense. In other words, it's not what you learn, but how you learn it! Learning music is just like learning to walk - you have to take the first step before attempting the second. If you don't, you are going to end up frustrated and confused. That is why Andrew strives to create courses that not only provide quality course materials, but are structured in a straight-forward, sequential order.
Was short and to the point, even though the tutor had a grown his beard by the end of the course XD. Some other tutorials out there might find you switching off as you're listening, but I was kept interested the whole way through here. The casual and friendly approach made it all fun and easy to understand. Very well done.
To the point teaching and a good start off point for beginning a foundation of learning music. It wasn't boring and it was explained well. I liked the quizzes. I feel more confident taking a paid course now.... I have read a chapter in a music theory book and lost all interest to read on so before I paid for a complete course I figured this short course would be the deciding factor. It made sense where reading a book did not. I'm excited to explore music theory farther now. Thanks
Great introduction to music theory. Very clearly explained. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
I was slow to complete due to ther commintements but it explained the 7 elements of music in a very easy to understand way. Thank you
Music theory lessons are heavy to digest. I loved this course because it explains the seven elements of Music in a very lucid manner. Andrew, thanks a ton for simplifying the music theory.
This course is short but for me the short segments and information put forth was enough and not over whelming. The information was logical, educational and presented in a professional friendly manner. I learnt a lot and highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to understand the elements of music which are presented in layman terms.
Great introduction to Music structure if you are a complete beginner. Very easy to follow.
Excellent introduction to music theory.
this course can make you understand the basic music on the easiest way
