This course is entrance to the world of Electrical Power Systems. Students who are completely new to the concepts of Power Engineering, this course can help them to fill the gap.
Here in this course the content is started from the very basic sources of generation, and how these sources are used to generate electrical energy. But as there is huge demand of power from various categories of consumer like residential, industrial, commercial, agriculture, the generating stations are always working under variable load. So here comes the role of power engineer to analyse the load profile and select generating units to fullfill the demand at that particular time of day.
Hence the course is designed in a way that learners will understand basic concepts of power generation, load curve, how to read load curve and accordingly how the variable consumer demand is fulfilled. Then the typical structure of Power System constituting of generating station, distribution and finally the consumption is explained. As the power is to transmitted far away from the point of generation, hence other way of transmitting power is via DC transmission so those concepts will also be discussed.
So all those who are looking to get a good understanding in Power System, can take this course as an first step towards their learning.
