Create Better Illustrations by Understanding the Importance of the Rough Sketch
Thumbnailing your artwork is an integral part of the illustration process. It can save you an immense amount of time and can spark your creative thinking. This course is here to help you improve that aspect of your work. The goal should be to explore a variety of ideas quickly and without too much judgement. They don't need to be perfect. Even in this rough sketch stage you can explore things like perspective, composition, proportions, and storytelling. Then once you have your ideas in place, refinement will come more naturally!
Lessons in this Course -
L1 - Drawing with Basic Forms and Overlaps
L2 - Using Basic Forms to Draw the Body
L3 - The Benefits of Thumbnailing the Sketch
L4 - Refining the Concept
Just remember to explore the rough sketch phase of the work. It's your blue print to the rest of the drawing. If that is right, the illustration will turn out much more confident looking and chances are you will get it done faster.

I currently teach Figure Drawing, Anatomy, How to Draw Comics, and Digital Painting. My primary art programs are Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, Sketchbook Pro, and Photoshop. I also teach traditional art methods as well.
I have been a working professional artist for most of my life. I have been published in comics, created 3D animation and characters for television, illustrated storyboards for commercials, and owned and operated my own sign and design firm successfully for over 15 years.
I am also the author of the book "Learn to Draw Action Heroes" by Impact Publishing.
I am currently a professional freelance illustrator and comic artist where I create digital art for my clients. I create sequential art and character concepts.
I now share my knowledge in digital art and computer software through online platforms such as Udemy and have a growing Youtube channel as well. With over 190,000 Youtube subscribers and quickly growing I felt I should create some more in depth content for students wanting to take their skills to the next level.
My goal is to help aspiring artists realize their potential and break their mental barriers that hold them back from creating the artwork of their dreams. We can all do it with the right instruction and work ethic. That is what I am here to teach my students.
I am very dedicated to my students and responsive to any of your questions so please don't hesitate to ask. I am here to help!
