I am currently retired, but taught my students about cells for 35 years. I received my B.S. in biology from Cornell University in 1972 and my Ph.D. in Anatomy from UCLA in 1977. I have authored 45 publications in scientific journals or books, and published 11 books (4 for the general public, 7 as textbooks or books for scientists). I live in Virginia with my wife Paula. I have two sons who make me very proud.
