Are you passionate about music festivals but concerned about accessibility? Join us for an enlightening course that dives into the importance of creating inclusive environments for all festival-goers with disabilities. This course takes the therapeutic insight of a passionate doctoral occupational therapy student.
Learn how occupational therapists can collaborate with production companies to assess and enhance physical accessibility, ensuring that pathways, increased safety, increased inclusive language, and enhanced facilities are designed to accommodate diverse mobility needs effectively.
Dive into the research with accessibility in public spaces and how occupational therapists can advocate for more inclusive environments for individuals with disabilities.
Examine the vital role of occupational therapists in training festival staff and volunteers to provide inclusive and person-centered support. Learn how occupational therapy principles, such as disability awareness and effective communication strategies, can empower staff to create a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities.
By the end of the course, participants will emerge with a comprehensive understanding of accessibility principles and the tools necessary to advocate for and implement inclusive practices at music festivals. This course hopes to show the nontraditional role of occupational therapists in a consultative role and embrace experiences where everyone can feel welcome, valued, and celebrated.
