- Witchcraft Continued: Popular magic in modern Europe
In Part 10 of the Foundations in the Study of Magic series you will learn about the legacy of European Witchcraft, how the definitions of witches compare historically and how the image of the witches shift over time. You will also become aware of how the imaginare of witchcraft lead many scholars and non-scholars towards conclusions that don't stand to scrutiny. You will learn about the early witch cult theory and its most famous proponent Margaret Murray. You will also be introduced to the rigorous historical methodology of micro history. Then you will learn about the remnants of an agrarian cult turned into an overlooked magical practice in rural Italy. The biography focus then shifts and you will meet two historians that set the standard for English History and the Study of Magic in the Anglo world, Keith Thomas and Ronald Hutton. And finally, get access to a free book with recent scholarship on witchcraft in the little studied 19th century. Witchcraft continued provides an important collection of essays on the nature and understanding of witchcraft and magic in European society over the last two centuries. And as usual you will get lifetime access to all the resources, I find on the topics I outline and as well as me as your always eager reference librarian for all things magic.
