Dr. Victoria Pederson
Online Bible and Theology Professor
Hi, My name is Victoria and I have been teaching children since 2003 when I was ordained as a Children and Youth Pastor. I was a co-senior pastor of a church with my husband for 4 years and have focused solely on teaching since 2016. Currently, I teach in the College of Theology at Grand Canyon University, Online Bible courses at Luma Learn, and also taught English as a Second Language through live online classes to Chinese kids through VIPKID. I have worked with all age groups from preschool to high school, young adult to second career adults. I live in the midwest with my husband, three kids (12, 8, and 5) and take care of my elderly mother. I love teaching students of all ages, and I am excited to teach God's word in practical ways at Udemy.
Throughout my life, I have been behind the doors of a church. My father was a missionary to several countries in the early 80's. My parents helped to plant three churches in Western Wisconsin. I grew up learning all about church and how it functions in all aspects of my life. I was saved at a young age, baptized at age 7, and have had a personal relationship with Jesus since I was a child. I have continued to share my faith with others, as I have gone on several mission trips to nearby areas and Mexico after high school. I felt God wanted me to be a Bible teacher, so I graduated from college with a BA in Bible and Theology in 2004, a Masters of Divinity in 2011, and a Doctorate of Theology in 2015.
My husband and I felt called to help a friend start a small Liberian church and were ordained in 2003. We began our own church and were licensed senior pastor beginning in 2011. Since this time, I have focused on teaching children and youth through bible-based curriculum. I have used several curriculum and created many of my own. In 2016, I co-wrote, edited and published my father's missionary memoirs in "The life of a Short Term Missionary" before he lost his battle with Alzheimer's in 2018. I started teaching at a small church-college in 2011, started teaching online at Grand Canyon University in 2015, and started teaching online at Luma Learn in January 2020. I love being able to talk about life situations and weave God's words through application to every day circumstances. I look forward to the moments when a student's eyes light up with the Gospel message and understanding a new revelation through the Holy Spirit. I hope to make an impact by scaffolding learning to a student's level, bringing the scripture into every day situations by developing critical thinking skills.
My hobbies include playing with my children, listening to music, baking, and crafts. I love to paint and create new things. I also enjoy the best of all four seasons by gardening in spring, water parks in summer, playing in the leaves in fall and sledding in the winter.
