Welcome to my doctoral capstone project exploring leisure engagement and participation for youth with disabilities!
During this course, you will learn about my work with the C.A.S.T for Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides fishing events for underserved youth and youth with disabilities. Leisure engagement is beneficial for all individuals, and my project focused on the importance of increasing engagement for youth with disbailities. To carry out this project I teamed up with the C.A.S.T for Kids Foundation to create educational materials for employees and volunteers, as well as social media content to increase awareness, advocate, and educate the larger community. I also supplemented my time at the Center of Developement Pediatric Therapies where I created unique interventions to be used in the future that target leisure participation in youth.
This course contains lectures, handouts, and references that display the completion of my learning objectives. The handouts are attached to the course and are available to download for your viewing purposes. There are references at the end of the slide that were used to support the need for this capstone project.
Thank you for taking the time to view this course. If you have any further questions about any aspect of my doctoral capstone experience!

My name is Lydia Braun and I am a third-year entry-level doctoral student at Drake University in Des Moines, IA.
I completed my doctoral capstone experience with the C.A.S.T for Kids Foundation, a non-profit foundation providing fishing events for youth with disabilities and the Center of Development Pediatric Therapies, an outpatient pediatric clinic in Cookeville, TN. It was a pleasure to work with both sites to increase the awareness regarding leisure participation in youth with disabilities.
